Top Overnight News - BETA

  • S&P equity futures are trading below the levels reported in our last update and are modestly below yesterday's settlement. Asian equities finished mixed overnight and Europe is mixed as well.
  • Global attention is on meeting between EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and US President Trump at 13:30 ET. While Juncker is expected to offer a couple of proposals, there is some skepticism he will be able to diffuse tensions.
  • Asia equities were mixed Wednesday. China edged lower after yesterday's sharp gains, as volatility died down along with notable news flow. The yen was narrowly mixed against the majors amid broader dollar softness, though there were no major movements. Yuan firmed vs the dollar, while PBOC fixing was weakest since 28-Jun last year. In the wake of market euphoria over China's pro-growth policy announcement, latest consensus poll showed growth expectations edged higher even as ongoing trade frictions remain a concern. There were no major changes to the PBOC policy outlook. Press tempered fiscal stimulus expectations. In a similar vein, Japan discussions featured sobering views on BoJ policy options in light of recent market speculation.

      BA, GM, Fiat down after earnings.  KO up small.
