The Week Ahead - Key Events and Focus

The week will be largely dominated by earnings releases with the heaviest volume on Thursday.  Last week Netflix was the first of the FANG stocks which surprised by missing by miles on subscriber growth.  Monday Google, Wednesday Facebook, and Thursday Amazon will be the after market excitement.  Boeing reports on Wednesday morning and it's the largest weight in the Dow too.  All of these stocks (and the market) have extremely low historical short interest thus if they do rally them after I could see a limited bounce and perhaps followed by a fade.

On the economic front domestically we will see existing home sales, FHFA home price index Flash PMIs, durable orders and Q2 GDP prelim. Abroad we will see Euro-zone PMI and M3 money supply, Germany IFO and ECB Refi rate, we will also see Japan trade balance and Tokyo CPI

S&P bullish sentiment finished the week at 69% after making a peak on Wednesday at 77%.  For the most part the market did not reward the better than expected earnings and the Nasdaq 100 did have a buying climax which is when something makes a 52 week high but closes down for the week.  These can be reversal patterns worth watching.   Google had one and Amazon was within a dollar of closing down on the week.  Good luck!
