The Week Ahead - Key Events and Focus


Looking ahead next week proves to be another relatively quiet week. Politically the most watched catalyst will be if German Chancellor Angela Merkel's could lose her powerful seat in the heart of Europe maybe soon as next week amid clashes within her coalition Government over EU migration policies.   On the corporate calendar we will see a handful of earnings releases with notable earnings releases including but not limited to (FDX, LZB, ORCL, ATU MU, RHT, KMX DRI, BB.CN).

Jefferies, Oppenheimer, JMP Securities and SunTrust Robinson Humphery will all be hosting conferences next week.

On the Economic front domestically housing data will take center stage earlier in the week with NAHB housing market index on Monday, Housing starts and Building Permits on Tuesday, and Existing home sales on Wednesday before shifting toward Flash PMIs at the end of the week. Abroad we will see Japan trade balance on Monday German PPI (May) on Wednesday and UK BoE rate decision on Thursday as well as Euro-zone consumer confidence and Japan CPI and PMI. Friday we will see Markit PMI from Germany and Euro-zone.

Both the S&P and Nasdaq bullish sentiment is at 72% and remains elevated.  Happy Father's Day to all the dad's, future dad's and let's not forget all the dad's we've lost.
