The Week Ahead - Key Events and Focus
|
|
|
A relatively quiet week on the earnings calendar however there will be a handful of brokerage conferences including Jefferies Global Healthcare, Raymond James Best ideas, Macquarie Global metals and mining among others. Keep an eye on healthcare as this the start of a strong seasonal period.
On the economic front PMI's will be out mid week with U.S. Trade Balance on Wednesday, and Chinese trade balance and FX reserves in the back half of the week.
Something that will be looked at closer than usual considering all of the recent US Tariff news will be the China imports/exports for May as well the May CPI. US PPI (May) factory orders will be out on Thursday and German trade balance with be released on Friday.
While I was traveling on Friday and offline, I see everyone decided to buy the better than expected US employment report, just like last month when everyone bought the employment report except for the fact that last month missed estimates. S&P bullish sentiment increased to 51% from 43% and the Nasdaq 100 increased from 47% to 57% - as the Nasdaq mega cap names continue higher. This week it is possible we will see more daily upside exhaustion signals within the FANG names as well with some
of the custom FANG indexes and of course I will be all over it on the Daily Notes. I'm about to take off from the Cayman Islands completing a great weekend of meetings with the Real Vision people and filming of a couple new Real Vision videos called "The Exchange."
