The Week Ahead

Looking ahead another week of heavy earnings volume awaits with notable reporters including but not limited to (AGN, MCD, AMT, EAT, HUN, JCI, PFE, NBL, MDLZ, PAYC, CVS, HUM, YUM, ESRX, APA, ADP, AAPL, BDX, CAH, K, BRKR, CBS, TEVA, PE, VFC,) Last week saw more sell the news reaction to better than expected earnings with the S&P losing 0.01% on the week. Bullish sentiment with the S&P remained subdued at 34% bulls on Friday vs a week ago's reading of 33%. On the macro front, the US 10 year yield spiked above 3% and closed on the lows for the week. Crude, Gold, and Copper closed down for the week while the USD broke out above the tight range seen since January to the upside.

On the economic front the main focus of the busy week will center on the FOMC rate decision on Wednesday (34% odds of a hike), which will be bookend by US PCE on Monday morning and US jobs report on Friday. We will also see ISM manufacturing for April on Tuesday and trade balance figures on Thursday. Abroad China will report NBS PMIs on Monday morning and we will see Euro area GDP for Q1 on Wednesday as well as manufacturing PMI for both China and Euro-zone.
